If You Are Learning Meta Model & Milton Model of NLP ONLY in English, You Are Wasting Your Time & Money! Part - 1

'Whatever we learn with pleasure, never forget.' – Alfred Mercier

As you already know that the foundation of NLP is the Meta Model, which is based on the Language Skills of Virginia Satyr & Fritz Perls. These two used to bring change in the inner world of a client with greater ease, at that time, where others used to take years. Most of the time, just one session was enough to eradicate frustration, depression, anxiety, grief, anger, negativity etc.

The therapy session used to be a new dawn in the life of their client. People used to enter crying & leave laughing. They used to come in despair & return with enthusiasm. It was really enchanting. The life used to get changed in a few moments. Problems of ages used to get resolved in minutes. Now the question was: how did they use to do that?

When NLP founders, Richard Bandler & John Grinder, observed Virginia Satyr & Fritz Perls, they came to know that both were using language in a precise way. There were some fix patterns in their counselling scripts. Every case was different. Still, almost all were getting amazing results. Just with the help of specific use of language, they were changing the client's life in a positive way.

Continuous observation revealed some tranced patterns of language which were used by these therapists. As NLP founders started using these patterns in their counselling scripts, they also started getting the same mesmerising results.

NLP founders also started producing the same outcomes as Satyr & Perls. It was hard for them as well to believe that the change could take place in such a short interval, but there were hundreds of evidences. As a result, on the basis of these language patterns, the first-ever book on NLP was written named 'The Structure of Magic', which was totally based on the language & its usage. The book was about changing our own & others' lives through the use of language.

Meta Model teaches us to raise the questions, through the usage of language, which could change our own & that of others' inner world radically.

For example, when someone or your client says to you ….

"I sometimes feel shattered….."

Let's think about this sentence. This single sentence is saying a lot about the client's inner world. However, at the same time, it's hiding a lot, which is called 'Deletion' in NLP. Usually, we think that we've understood whatever he or she wants to say, but Meta Model says, it's your illusion that you have understood this sentence. Now the question is: 'How to search for that which is deleted?' In answer, the Meta Model says, "Ask the question to this sentence, so that the deleted part would come on the surface." For example….

I sometimes feel isolated.

First question – From whom?

Second question – what is that you feel isolated from?

These two questions would give us more information about the person's inner world. The most important thing would happen with this single question. The fragmented world of the client may get connected once again.

Let's take one more example......

'You never care or worry about me.'

Let's think a little about this sentence now.

We would think that we've understood whatever was said, but have we really understood or is it an illusion? Now, 'the verb' in this sentence is 'to care or to worry'. Do we know the right meaning of it? Maybe not. This sentence, "You never care or worry about me," is saying a lot about the inner world of that person. The speaker also might not have the right idea of what she is saying. Now the Meta Model would say, ask her the question, "But how?"

Sentence - 'You never care or worry about me.'

First Question – In what particular form I don't care or worry about you?

Second question – what is it that I don't do, makes you think that I never care or worry about you?'

Third question – what is it that I do, makes you think that I never care or worry about you?'

Now observe each question correctly. What would be the probable answers to these questions? Think about them. As you start asking these questions to this sentence, the one who is speaking starts thinking:

- What is my meaning by care or worry?

- Does this person know my definition of caring or worrying?

- Is my definition of caring or worrying fundamentally wrong?

In this way, we can help the other person to weave his fragmented inner world.

This question would give that person the exact information about her inner world. This way, by using language, we can bring change in the inner world.

When you learn this Meta Model, which is the foundation of NLP, in English only & if you are using any other language in your day-to-day life, you won't be able to use Meta-Model at all, because ultimately this is the game of language.

To translate more than 40 patterns of Meta Model from English into one's mother tongue would be utterly difficult for the person who is learning NLP as a practitioner. As a result, after completing the NLP Practitioner course also, many participants can't use it in their day-to-day life. Finally, they can't change their own life, nor of others by using these language patterns. It is easier to understand how language is weaving our inner world if it's our day-to-day language.

While I was doing my NLP Practitioner, I asked my trainer about this. The reply was, 'That is your problem, you have to solve it.'

There were other 25 people with me. Not a single NLP Practitioner in my contact from my batch is practising these language patterns in day-to-day life. Either they think that it's not working or it is too hard to practise. The fundamental mistake is that we are not learning those patterns in our day-to-day language, in which we have a better scope to practise them.

That's why my suggestion is: If you want to learn NLP, learn it in English as well as in Hindi at least. There are other reasons as well. Let's think about them in the next blog.

Till then…..

Enjoy Your Life & Live with Passion.
