If You Are Learning Meta Model & Milton Model of NLP ONLY in English, You Are Wasting Your Time & Money! Part - 1
'Whatever we learn with pleasure, never forget.' – Alfred Mercier
Everyone knows that NLP was developed on the Meta Model, which was based on Language Skills of Virginia Satyr & Fritz Perls. These two used to bring change very easily in the inner world of a client, at that time, where others used to take years. Most of the time, just one session was enough to eradicate frustration, depression, anxiety, grief, anger, negativity.
The therapy session used to be a new dawn in the life of their client. People used to enter crying & leave laughing. They used to come in despair & return with enthusiasm. It was really magical. The life used to get changed in a few moments. Problems of ages used to get resolved in minutes. Now the question was: how did they use to do that?
When NLP founders, Richard Bandler & John Grinder, observed Virginia Satyr & Fritz Perls, they came to know that both were using language with accuracy & with greater ease. Just with the help of language, they were changing the client’s life.
Continuous observation revealed some magical patterns of language which were used by these therapists. As NLP founders started using these patterns themselves, they also started getting mesmerizing results.
NLP founders also started producing the same results as Satyr & Perls. It was hard to believe that the change could take place in such a short time, but there were hundreds of evidence. As a result, on the basis of these language patterns, the first ever book on NLP was written named 'The Structure of Magic’, which was totally based on Language & its usage. The book was about changing our own & others’ lives through the use of language.
Meta Model teaches us to raise the questions, through the usage of language, which could change our own & that of others’ inner world radically.
For example, when someone or your client says to you ….
“I sometimes feel shattered…..”
Let’s think about this. This single sentence can say a lot about the client's inner world, which is called ‘Deletion’ in NLP. We think that we’ve understood whatever he or she wants to say, but Meta Model says, it’s your illusion that you have understood this sentence. Now the question is: ‘How to search for that which is deleted?’ In answer, Meta Model says, "Ask the question to this sentence, so that the deleted part would come on the surface." For example….
I sometimes feel isolated.
First question – From whom?
Second question – what is that you feel isolated from?
These two questions would give us more information about the person's inner world. The most important thing would happen with this single question. The fragmented world of the client may get connected once again.
'Our Language deeply impacts our language.' – Steven Pinker
Let’s take one more example......
‘You never care or worry about me.’
Let’s think a little about this sentence now.
We would think that we’ve understood whatever was said, but have we really understood or is it an illusion? Now, 'the verb' in this sentence is ‘to care or to worry’. Do we know the right meaning of it? Maybe not. This sentence, "You never care or worry about me," is saying a lot about the inner world of that person. The speaker also might not have the right idea of what she is saying. Now the Meta Model would say, ask her the question, “But how?”
Sentence - ‘You never care or worry about me.’
First Question – In what special form I don’t care or worry about you?
Second question – what is it that I don’t do, makes you think that I never care or worry about you.’
Second question – what is it that I do, makes you think that I never care or worry about you.’
Now observe each question properly. What would be the probable answers to these questions? Think about that. As you start asking these questions to this sentence, the one who is speaking starts thinking, ‘What is my meaning by care or worry? Does this person know my definition of caring or worrying? Or is my definition of caring or worrying fundamentally wrong?’ In this way, we can help the other person to weave his fragmented inner world.
This question would give that person the exact information about her inner world. This way, by using language we can bring change in the inner world.
When you learn this Meta Model, which is the base of NLP, in English & if you are using any other language in your day-to-day life, you won’t be able to use Meta-Model at all.
To translate more than 40 patterns of Meta Model from English into one's mother tongue would be completely impossible for the person who is learning NLP as a practitioner. As a result, after completing the NLP Practitioner course also many participants can’t use it in their day-to-day life. Finally, they can't change their own life, nor of others by using these language patterns.
While I was doing my NLP Practitioner, I asked my trainer about this. The reply was, ‘That is your problem, you have to solve it.’
There were other 25 people with me. Not a single NLP Practitioner in my contact from my batch is practising these language patterns in a day-to-day life. Either they think that it’s not working or it is too hard to practise. The fundamental mistake is that we are not learning those patterns in our day-to-day language, in which we have a better scope to practise it.
That’s why our suggestion is: If you want to learn NLP, learn it in Hindi. There are other reasons also. Let’s think about them in the next blog.

If You Are Learning Meta Model & Milton Model of NLP ONLY in English, You Are Wasting Your Time & Money! Part - 2
After the formation of Meta Model, NLP founders came across one more magician of language, who was so powerful that without letting anyone know, he had a knack of changing people. His name was Milton Erickson. Milton Erickson had an expertise in Hypnosis. Within some moments, Erickson could change major complicated problems from worry, anxiety, depression, disappointment, despair to tension, turmoil etc. with the help of Hypnosis.
He had helped many clients in their life-long problems & that also without letting them know about how did that happen. He used to talk in such a way that the conscious mind would stop working & suggestions would settle down into the subconscious mind. As soon as the suggestions would settle down in the subconscious mind, life used to start changing. He used to talk with the subconscious mind.
Because any change in life first takes place in subconscious mind. Whenever the change occurs, it occurs at the subconscious level, or it never occurs at all. He used to talk in such a way that life used to get changed. NLP Founders collected these language-patterns & formed the Milton Model, which is an important foundation of NLP.
'You can't affect the cards that you are dealt, but you can determine how you play them.' -Milton H. Erickson
Let’s see an example, read more carefully.
I would definitely be surprised if you’ve experienced till now that how important it is to set a goal to succeed in life & it is not at all necessary to do it now, till there no upsurge to do that from your heart. Any person, as you know who sets the goal in his life very easily, by which the door of learning something new opens, is filled with joy, becomes enthusiastic.
And there isn’t any need of setting goal so eagerly, better would be to awaken that sense of unlimited happiness & self-confidence in yourself. Have you ever achieved any big or small goal, through which you’ve ever experienced the joy of achieving that goal, small or big, in childhood or in your adult life? Do you have such a kind of experience, which would have touched your life, because every time, when you experience the success after the completion of any goal, your mind becomes eager to achieve other goals in future. It creates the hunger for achieving the goal.
Have you observed the usage of language? If not, read again. Here, I’ve used some Hypnotic Language patterns. These language patterns help us to get connected with our Subconscious mind.
I’ve written this example with the help of these six patterns. In this way, there are 114 hypnotic language patterns, through which we can use hypnosis in our casual communication & convey our message with full vigour to others. Now think for a while, if you’ve learnt these 114 language patterns in English & if you are using Hindi in your day to day life, you would never be able to use these Hypnotic Language patterns in your communication. The moment you learn these Hypnotic language patterns in your day-to-day language, it becomes easy to use them in English also. That’s why, we’ve to learn these language patterns in our colloquial language, then only we would be able to use them.
But unfortunately, in India, the NLP courses are conducted either thoroughly in English or thoroughly in Hindi, but at IBHNLP, you will learn Milton Model in English as well as in Hindi.
The conclusion is very simple. If you really want to learn NLP & become master in Human communication, learn it in English as well as in Hindi, which would be beneficial. There are still other reasons as well. Let’s think about them in the next blog.
