NLP and Happiness

NLP and Happiness

NLP helps us in various ways. There are so many usages of NLP in human communication domain. The use of NLP is for yourself, so before we start discussing various NLP applications that give your career a new dimension, we will spend some time to discuss how NLP can be beneficial you as a person.

One of the concepts we discuss during our NLP Practitioner Programs is the communication model. In his widely acclaimed book “Flow”, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi spoke of how people are able to achieve happiness in various areas doing what they love doing, it may be sports, business, climbing, cooking and many other chores that don’t even notice. One interesting aspect is while people are happy about something they don’t even know that they are happy and it only in a later reflection, they realize that doing something made them happy.

The flow is said to be “the mental state in which the person is fully immersed in what he or she is doing by a feeling of energized focus, total involvement, and in the process of the activity.”

According to him, flow is completely focused motivation. It’s a single-minded immersion and represents perhaps the ultimate in harnessing emotions in the service of performing and learning. In flow, the emotions are not just concentrated and channelized, but they are energized and aligned with the task at hand in a positive way.

As per Mihaly, there are nine factors that accompany the flow experience

  • Clarity About Goals

Clear Goals or the clear understanding of expectations and rules are essential and goals should be attainable and align appropriately with one’s skill set and abilities. Moreover, the challenge level and skill level should both be high.

  • Focused Attention

A high degree of concentration in a limited field of attention produces miracles (a person merged in the activity will have the opportunity to focus and to delve deeply into it).

  • Merging into Action

A loss of the feeling of self-consciousness, the merging of action and awareness.

  • Experience of Trance

Distorted sense of time, one’s Subjective Experience of time is altered. It is also called a trance state.

  • Immediate Feedback

Direct and immediate feedback supported by NLP sensory acuity.

  • Moderate Challenges

The balance between ability level and challenge.

  • Self Mastery

A sense of personal control over the situation or activity.

  • Effortless Action

The activity is intrinsically rewarding, so there is an effortlessness of action. And,

  • Pure Awareness

People get merged in their activity, and focus of awareness is narrowed down to that activity itself, action awareness merging.

The rules of happiness are really as simple as they are supporting another NLP presupposition “Every Experience has a structure” and with modelling, anchoring and changing some beliefs, one can easily and almost on command achieve Happiness and be effective in whatever he does. Even once in your life, if you have experienced happiness, be assured that the structure of happiness is present in your brain. The only question is: can we anchor that emotion at our wish?

If you want to become a Certified NLP Practitioner in India, then programs offered by the Indian Board of Hypnosis & Neuro-Linguistic Programming are suitable for you. It is much better to take certification from the Indian Board of Hypnosis & Neuro Linguistic Programming rather than any fancy certificate signed by foreign Dignitary. Milton Model & Meta Model which are basically Language-based models, it would be useless to learn them in English. Then what are you waiting for?
